The Sunday Sip: Fill Up Your Cup With Elena at Cropped Stories

Welcome to another addition of The Sunday Sip.

Interesting Fact: Today marks our 51st edition of the Sunday Sip. I can hardly believe we’ve met so many wonderful bloggers since we started this feature last year.  Again and again, our readers tell us how much they love The Sunday Sip ,and I have to admit, it’s one of the things I look forward to each week.

I would not be fibbing if I told you that some of our best blogging buds became our buds because of the Sunday Sip, and some of those, who were already friends, we got to know even better.

I guess that’s what happens when you take the time to sit down for some coffee talk! So pull up a chair and put up your cups as we say “cheers” to another fabulous blogger:

I’ll let her introduce herself:
My name is Elena and I am a stay at home mom to a 2 1/2 year old little girl named Alivia. I am also the author of my blog, Cropped Stories.
What’s that in your steaming mug?

This morning I am drinking Earl Grey decaffeinated tea. Black with 4 sugars.  I know what you’re thinking, “have some tea with your sugar”!  I have a sweet tooth, what can I say.  It’s like my substitution for chocolate!
I wasn’t judging, girl…but did you say “substitute for” or “in addition to” chocolate? Because if you can stay away from a Hershey’s Bliss or piece of Dove chocolate, then you go right ahead with your four sugars.
Let’s talk blog, though–tell us why you chose the name:
I chose the name Cropped Stories because I wanted to focus my blog around photography. I believe every photo is a piece of a story that we, as the photographer, choose to tell.  What we opt to include inside the frame of our picture is our crop.  I love how each photographer has a unique perspective and story to tell!

Janene and I both enjoy taking pictures–I guess you could call us “momtographers.” I know the pros like to make fun of that title the same way they make fun of “mommy bloggers” But I don’t mind wearing either title with pride!
Could you tell us about a post you are proud of? We would love to swing by and check out one that you would recommend!

This was a tough question to answer, since I could think of at least 10 posts I would recommend reading.  To make it easy on myself, I narrowed it down to what was most current.  I was inspired to write it after conversing with a blogger on a blog community I am a member of.  They mentioned their Facebook account was suspended after someone posted a follow back request to their timeline.  I also feel the post is relatable to a large percentage of bloggers especially if you are a blog hopper like myself! It is titled Blog Hops and Facebook (have you read Facebook’s terms)?

It is definitely a must read for anyone that is currently hosting or participating in a blog hop!
Well then, We are just coming off of a Mixer Weekend–so this post is very timely! Can’t wait to check it out!
What was it that made you decide to give blogging a try?
I chose to start my blog almost immediately after the birth of my first child. The minute she became a part of my life, I picked up a camera and that was it!  I’ve been attached to the view finder ever since!  How could I not, having such a beautiful subject to photograph?  Initially I blogged about photography, but it wasn’t long before I branched out.  Now you can find content on everything from motherhood, family, photography tips & tutorials, product recommendations, consumer information, blogging tips, link sharing, crafts, and Intermittent Exotropia (a condition Alivia has) to free downloads such as storyboard/collage templates, frames, printables, etc.
You are one busy mama, Elena–I love that you’ve created a space that is all your own! Do you think you could tell us what it means to you to be “more than a mommy”?

When Alivia was born, I remember thinking I didn’t want to be defined as just one thing, a “Mommy”.  I knew there was much more to me than that.  Before Alivia, I  was a Quality Assurance Representative for IBM and worked from home.  And before I was old enough to provide for myself, my hobbies consisted of art, design, and writing.  Blogging has been a great way to express myself both inside and outside of being a mom.  Outside of blogging, assuming I get five minutes to myself, you can probably find me reading.  Most importantly, family is a huge priority in my life and not just my immediate family (of three), but my mom, sister, cousins, uncles and aunts as well.  In fact, I am fortunate to have my mom live right across the street from me and I am glad that she is a BIG part of Alivia’s life!
Thank you for sharing your blog and a little piece of your life with us today! Your photos are gorgeous and we cannot wait to see more!

You can connect with Elena all over the place! Here are her links: Twitter, Facebook, G+, Bloglovin, Pinterest, or Instagram. Let her know that More Than Mommies sent ya!

51 weeks, that is great! I have to say I am a momtographer too but these photos on Cropped Stories put me to shame. What a gift for your daughter.
