The Sunday Sip: Fill Your Cup with Lisa at The Golden Spoons

Welcome to The Sunday Sip

If this is your first time visiting the Sunday Sip, what took you so long??  Just kidding!  But you may want to check out some of the great Sunday Sip gals that you have missed in the last 52 features we’ve had since we’ve been doing The Sunday Sip!  While you are there – fill out a form to become one of this awesome group!  We LOVE our Sunday Sippers and know a lot of our blogging buddies do, too!

So . . . without further ado – here’s this week’s Sunday Sip!

Good morning, Lisa! What’s in your cup this morning?

Coffee, but “froo-froo” coffee as my hubby calls it.  I can’t take it black, so I always get the flavored ones or add lots of cream and sweetener.  This morning in particular, a yummy Cafe Mocha from my beloved Keurig!
Mmmmm . . . I love my Keurig, too! (Even though it’s been acting up lately.)

Tell us a little bit about yourself and introduce yourself to our readers.

Lisa Witherspoon – wife, mother, church/school volunteer extraordinaire, Director of Household Operations for the Witherspoon Family, and author of The Golden Spoons Blog.

Director of Household Operations, huh?  I think I may need to also adopt that title!

We love to hear the stories behind how blogs got their names.  So, tell us how you came up with The Golden Spoons.

The Golden Spoons
Our last name is Witherspoon – often shortened to “Spoon” as a nickname.  My blog is all about my family and they are more precious to me than gold (or anything else). Hence the name – The Golden Spoons!

We are hopefully going to be sending some new readers your way today – at least that’s the plan! What is one post that you would like them all to check out when they stop by to say “hello”?

If I have to narrow it down, the one post I would want all of my blog readers to read would be Lessons I Want to Teach My Daughters.  I have three daughters and I take my responsibility as their mother very seriously.  I have other posts that are funny and even some yummy recipes, but this one is my absolute favorite and sums up the essence of my blog.

What made you decide to start blogging?

I started my blog completely on a whim a few years ago.  I honestly had no idea what I was doing or what I was getting myself into.  I had a few funny parenting stories to tell and I have always loved to write, so starting a blog seemed like the perfect solution.  The primary purpose of my blog is to record memories and share my parenting joys and struggles.  i hope to one day have all of my entries printed and bound in a book that I can give to my girls so that, when they are wives and mothers, they can look back on my experience and laugh or find comfort.  I do feel that I have stayed pretty true to that purpose, although there may be some posts that are a little bit more for me than for them.  I am currently trying to find a balance between increasing my blog following yet not letting it completely take over my life and become stressful.  I know that I want to continue to blog, I am just working to find my comfy spot in the blogosphere!

Last question this morning then we can head over for a refill of the “froo-froo” coffee together!

Being a mom is a full time job, no doubt!  Even when we aren’t actively being mommies, we are thinking about our mom duties and trying to figure out how we are going to fit them in somewhere.  We have to have things that we do for ourselves, though.

What are some of the things you do that aren’t necessarily specific to being a Mommy?  What makes you More than a Mommy?

Like most moms, it is hard for me to think of anything I do that isn’t centered around my kids.  However, I would have to say that I am a good leader and organizer.  Most of what I organize involves my children, but I have helped to organize Vacation Bible School; I have created the school’s yearbook for two years now; and I chair a couple of committees as well.  I must be pretty good at it because people keep asking me to do stuff!!!  Since I’m also a blogger, hopefully I’m a good writer, too!

Thanks for sitting down with us this morning, Lisa! We’ve really enjoyed learning about you and having you visit our spot in the blogosphere!  I can’t wait for our readers to head over and check out yours!

You can check Lisa out at her blog, The Golden Spoons, on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest!

Thanks for stopping by this week – have a fantastic Sunday!
